Making solar panels
Videos on how to make solar panels
First homemade solar panel video:
1. Remove the white coating, to reveal the shiny metal surface on all 36 cells, front and back side.
2. Apply liquid flux ("no-clean" type) for easy soldering.
3. Solder the tab wire to the front side of all 36 cells. The total length of each strip of wire is cell lenght X 2. The soldering iron must be between 40-60 Watts.
Second homemade solar panel video:
Remove the coating from the back side and apply liquid flux...
Solder the tab wire...
Soldering on the back side is a little tricky... A little solder may help...
Third homemade solar panel video:
First cell in this string is one one of the 4 cells from Part 2...
This cardboard sheet will NOT be a part of the finished panel! It will be used to align the cells while interconnecting them...
1. Ready to solder the tab wires to the back...
2. Interconnect the strings with the BUS wire...
3. Bottom of the panel: 1st string with 2nd and 3rd string with the 4th.
4. Top of the panel: Interconnect the 2nd string with the 3rd.
Next, i will put a little silicon on the center of each cell and place a sheet of glass 5mm (120X58cm) on top of this. Then, i"ll turn the glass-cells-cardboard "sandwitch" upside-down, remove the cardboard and place another glass on top, silicon-glued with the other sheet (around the perimeter). Aluminium frame is optional.
